The Constitution of Australia prohibits the Commonwealth government from establishing a church or interfering with the freedom of religion, however, states are free under their own constitutions to interfere or establish a church, although none ever has. The relationship between the Commonwealth government and religion is much freer than in the United States, with governments working with religious organisations that provide education, health and other public services.
